POEA Scraps OEC for Returning OFWs

MANILA, Philippines - GOOD NEWS for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs)!


Labor and Employment Secretary Silvestre Bello III, decided by the Governing Board of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) to exempt the Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) in obtaining such OEC (Overseas Exit Clearance) certification .

Under Resolution No. GB 12 , series of 2016 , the OFWs back to its former employer and jobsite is exempted in the overseas employment certificate (OEC) requirement .

He said that during peak seasons such as Christmas holidays and school graduations take up to 7,000 requests per day of OFWs for the OEC .

Workers is also exempted in the travel tax and terminal fees of OFWs registering the Balik - Manggagawa Online by displaying a work visa , work permit, valid contract or equivalent document as the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) and the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA).

e-TRIKE PROJECT OF MANILA WITH FREE CHARGING STATIONS

MANILA - To support the campaign against pollution, the Manila City government build a free charging stations for electric tricycles (e-trikes) to be launched in the city in September. Manila Mayor Joseph "Erap" Estrada coordinated with Manila Electric Company (MERALCO) for the construction of charging stations for free to use by e-trike drivers in the city. The E-trike project is scheduled to launch on September 15, where 384 e-trikes are distributed to tricycle drivers that will be owned by them within five years period, through the "boundary - premium".

Dies Aged 81 - Actor Kenny Baker, Star Wars' R2-D2
